IN CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Jack Skellington
Canon: The Nightmare Before Christmas
OU/AU/OC: OU
Canon Point: Post-movie
History: Wiki link of questionable quality.
Personality: Jack is a kind, intelligent man, loyal to a fault and always with the best of intentions in mind. Difficult to anger and easy to calm, he attempts to keep a cool head even in stressful situations, even though his passions can easily get the better of him. Similarly, although Jack is open and accepting of new ideas, he often gets caught up in his own fascination with the new and strange. However, this tendency has been curbed in a major way after the events of the movie, leading Jack to a slightly more sedentary existence. He certainly won't turn down an opportunity to investigate the unusual, but he's since learned not to overstep his boundaries and to enjoy his life as it is. One of the few things that can rouse Jack to real, seething rage is somebody purposefully endangering those he cares for, and the repercussions for such tend to be rather severe.

He prefers to see the good in most people, putting equal faith in each and every person no matter their past actions. The only exceptions to this are those who actively go out of their way to harm others for their own gain, as evidenced by his rather open disdain towards Oogie Boogie. While not entirely callous, it can sometimes be difficult to notice other people's feelings, more often than not too caught up in other things to pay much attention. His time spent with Sally has done much to help him in this regard, and while he still has some difficulty with the emotions and motivations of others, he's become a much more empathetic person on the whole.

Having lived in Halloweentown for his entire (un)life, some of Jack's ideals and values don't exactly sync up with the perceived norm. He's of the belief that everyone could use a good scare every once in a while, though it's most often delivered through the medium of harmless pranks, and Jack would never purposefully harm anyone with the intent of frightening them. Over time, he's come to understand that others don't hold that same philosophy, and that maybe not everybody wants to be scared out of their wits simply for fun. A browbeating from Santa Claus himself will do that to a person. Things that others would see as disgusting or horrific Jack treats as mundane and, for the most part, benign. Ghosts and witches are just a part of the daily grind for him. If Jack can be said to have one true passion, it would be Halloween. He absolutely loves everything about Halloween, from the trick-or-treating to the decorations to the looks of absolute terror on the faces of little children. He revels in his position as the Pumpkin King, with a newfound enthusiasm for his job and a head full of new ideas after his unfortunate foray into alternative celebrations.
Strengths: While not as capable as he once was, Jack still retains a measure of grace and agility, dancing and leaping about just as easily as he would on two legs. The wings probably help a little, too. He also has a definite working knowledge of basic scientific procedures and is a superlative showman, capable of putting on all manner of performances to stun and dazzle a crowd.
Weaknesses: Jack's greatest weakness is his overly trusting nature, which often leads to him putting faith into those undeserving of it. Curiosity is another notable weakness of his, though seeing as it's led him into quite a bit of trouble in the past, he's managed to keep himself fairly restrained there. Still, Jack often catches himself looking too deeply into things that don't concern him, and the results are rarely pretty. On the physical end of things, he's not particularly strong or tough, though that's about it.
Possessions: Nothing but the clothes on his back.
Pony/Animal Type: Bat Pony
Cutie Mark: A jack-o-lantern

First Person:
[The following is written in a neat, spidery hand:]

Your Highness, Princess Twilight Sparkle

Having heard quite a bit of your talents in the field of mysticism and your proclivities towards the earthly sciences, I'd very much like to make a small request of you.
*Several elementary texts detailing the basic fundamentals of magic (Note:Nothing too complex, a single encyclopedia volume should do.)
*A small sampling of local semi-precious stones (Turquoise, bloodstone, cat's eye, etc.)
*A rudimentary set of chemistry equipment, including a number of weak solvents and a Bunsen burner if either can be acquired on short notice

I've attempted to keep my demands small, and while the experiments meant to be conducted with this equipment will be relatively small in scale, so as not to inconvenience you or your constituents, though if more sophisticated materials and equipment can be supplied I would very much appreciate it.

Frightfully yours,
Jack Skellington
Third Person:
The oddest part of this experience, Jack pondered as he shakily proceeded down the streets of Ponyville, was the looks that he was getting. It wasn't that they weren't taking his presence in stride, that he could understand. He'd learned the hard way that somebody like him simply wasn't tolerated in certain company, and he could deal with that. What confused him was the fact that the erstwhile natives weren't running and screaming at the sight of him, but simply responding with looks of confusion and whispered gossip amongst themselves. If he didn't scare them, then Jack couldn't help but ponder what did. And just what was a "Nightmare Night"

Of course, those sorts of questions could wait until later. There were, after all, more pressing matters at hand. First and foremost of which being why he was here in the first place. This wouldn't be the first time he'd found himself in a strange new world, but this place was certainly a far cry from Christmastown, though the bright colors and atmosphere of good cheer were some intriguing consistencies between the two. Even more unusual was the fact that he'd simply woken up here, as opposed to there being some form of door or gateway. On minute he was tucking in after a round of heated holiday brainstorming with the Mayor, and the next he was here, practically tripping over himself with every step.

This had been, so far, one of Jack Skellington's more unusual mornings, and he had the sense that it would only get stranger from here. That much, at least, he could take heart in.
